Are You Human Too?- My Thoughts

I recently watched a Korean TV series called "Are You Human Too?" and thought I would share my thoughts about it because I really enjoyed it. This isn't a professional, in-depth interview. Just my impressions of the show.

If you want to watch, it's available on: VRV or DramaFever

I've watched a total of one Korean drama previously, Boys Over Flowers. It seemed like a classic. It had been several years and I thought I'd take a look at DramaFever and see what's new and saw this interesting looking show about an android called "Are You Human Too?". I've liked other TV shows and movies about lifelike androids living among humans - maybe starting with V.I.C.I. from Small Wonder in the 1990s and more recently Humans and Netflix's Extinction.

About two minutes into the first episode of "Are You Human Too?", I was already hooked on it.

It is, for the most part, a drama / soap opera but I think it goes beyond that with an interesting concept. There are a lot of family dynamics. Interesting technology in Nam Shin III and the family business, a car company developing a self driving car. Most interesting of all are the situations and questions that really leave you thinking. Is a robot really only a "thing"? Can a person and a robot fall in love? Can the virtual be a better version of the real thing? The philosophical questions and situations more than make up for the soapy drama of the show.

The show stars:

  • Seo Kan Joon as Nam Shin, Nam Shin III
  • Gong Seung Yeon as Kang So Bong
  • Lee Joon Hyuk as Ji Young Hoon
  • Kim Sung Ryung as Oh Ro Ra
As of the date I watched it, only the first three episodes were available to watch for free. But you can do a free trial of VRV or subscribe to DramaFever on VRV for just $4.99 for a month to see all the episodes and have no commercials. It was worth it.
